WEAR YOUR JETSKI LIFEJACKET OR PESONAL FLOATATION DEVICE
An approved LIFEJACKET is required for each person on board.
Since there is no room to store it, you must wear it. Remember a life
jacket lasts for years .Drowning is for ever !!
JET SKIS AND ALCOHOL DO NOT MIX
Alcohol impairs your ability to make good quick decisions. This is critical
when operating such a fast and manoeuvrable marine vehicle as a personal
watercraft or jetski.
KNOW YOUR JETSKI
Study the manufacturer's manual and practice handling of your craft
under experienced supervision and in open water well away from other
craft.
TAKE A MARINE SAFETY COURSE
Take a RYA Jet ski course or at least Learn the common boating rules,
regulations and safety practices.
BE AWARE RIDE DEFENSIVELY !!
Collisions with other boats or stationary objects like rafts or docks
are the number one cause of personal watercraft and jet ski injuries.
WEATHER WATCH
Check the weather forecast before starting out. Be alert for the wave,
wind, cloud changes that signal bad weather approaches.
COLD WEATHER
Cold water robs body heat 25 times faster than air of the same temperature.
If you fall off your JET SKI into cold water, immediately reboard. In
winter you will survive only 4 minutes !!
KNOW YOUR AREA
Do not assume the water is clear of obstructions. Rocks, shoals, sand
bars, submerged pilings can seriously damage the Jet Ski or those on
board. Check marine charts and stay in marked channels.
SAFETY EQUIPMENT
Besides approved PFDs and a sound-signalling device air horn,whistle
e.t.c it is prudent to carry a tow rope and, when operating on a large
body of water, and some type of emergency flares in a watertight container.
NIGHT RIDDING DON'T
Jey Skis and Personal watercraft do not have lights which the law requires
for riding at night.
